General Comments
We were given the Dyson DC04 vacuum cleaner as a present. The person buying it thought they were buying good quality, as it was a lot more expensive than most (in fact they bought one for themselves, and for someone else at the same time). It turned out not to be the case. In 26 years we have had 4 vacuum cleaners - this is not anywhere close to the others. For around a year it was fine (it is not used daily), and we followed the maintenance, such as washing out the filters etc, but now it will only work for about 5 minutes, then it overheats and we have to wait about an hour before we can use it again. The other two people have had almost the same experience as us, although as they have pets, it happened to theirs before ours. This is very frustrating, and most cleaning is now done by hand. The after sales service is not very good, and even though we have a 5 year guarantee they are only interested in blaming the user for not using the product correctly. After listening to James Dyson pontificating about himself then his product on numerous occasions - then moving his production facility abroad, we would not buy another Dyson.
