Beginner plinker.
Cocks easily.
Scope and mount is no good pending the mount.
The scope combo needs a scope stop to stop it from moving.
As advertised, this Gamo Recon .177 is a nicely made beginner plinker with very usable thumb hole stock. The barrel has a custom bull barrel look and it cocks easily. It comes in a combo with a scope mounted. The problem is that this scope & mount moves as you shoot. The rifle doesn't have much recoil and very easy to cock but accuracy suffers because the scope moves. A scope stop would stop this but Gamo decided not to included as they do with their other rifles.
I replaced the scope/combo with a 3x9x32 Sportview that had proven accurate on other magnum springers and Co2 rifles. This Recon was shooting so far to the right that I ran out of adjustment. I don't know if the barrel was bent or it was hitting a bur inside the barrel or what. But I had to shoot to the left to get it to hit bulls eye. And it groups well at times. But not as good as I expected. To me the Diana 21 is a better all around air rifle and it only cost $10 more while on sale.
I recommend the Recon because it is what it is, a beginner plinker in a ergonomic slick snazzy thumb hole stock with target looking barrel. I'm sure with a straight barrel and a scope stop it could be a great plinker.
