Was I expecting too much? The PS2 version has more teams and editing options. £40! Only for the die hard fans!

General Comments

Finally it's here; Pro Evolution Soccer 6 for the Xbox 360. I managed to get it a day early (26/10) as some shops had released it early! The graphics and animations are amazing, especially the ball physics and 'keeper reactions. The players AI is very good, and the referee decisions have been tuned up a bit to allow a more realistic approach.

The problem I have is that this game seems half finished. The amount of stadiums is very few, and those die hard fans who like to make the proper kits and team names will be very disappointed, as there are hardly any editing options. Only the basic players attributes are available. Paul Scholes with blonde hair - no way of changing that - I bet he is happy (before anybody complains about 'gingerism', I 'am half one. You guess which half:).

The PS2 version has all the editing tools and a lot more stadiums etc, so are us XBox 360 owners going to have to pay for an update download just like GRAW chapter 2? I think Konami are going to make some money here.

Conclusion. The most realistic PES ever with great graphics, animations and AI but with only half the options. This should have been truly great, and I think EA will make up a lot of ground on Konami. Might give FIFA 07 a go (controversial I know), as it appears they may have developed a proper 'next gen.' footie game at the third attempt.
