General Comments

The best thing about the holiday to the Alcusia Beach Aparthotel were the excursions. We had read about a company called No Frills Excursions (they had been highly recommended by other people's Internet reviews), so we asked at the reception about booking. It turned out that we could book trips with this company through the reception. The trips were excellent, just as other people had written on their reviews. We went to the Caves of Drach, and the guide was the best we've ever met - informative, friendly, professional and really good fun. The Caves themselves were rather amazing too.

The other trip we went on was Aqualand - it's worth the money just for one slide - the Bonzai. That is the scariest ride I've ever been on - including roller coasters!

The apartments were great. Much better than we were expecting; clean, modern, spacious and we had a nice view of the pool. The pool area was also very pleasant, and they had a nice sunbathing area. The staff were all friendly and professional, including the reception staff, the bar and restaurant staff and the cleaners.

The person who gave advice on this website about the breakfast for €6 for all you can eat was spot on. It was great - thanks.

The resort is one of the biggest in Spain, so there's plenty to do. We were in what they call the new town, where it's livelier and busier with a concentration of shops, bars and restaurants. It's definitely a family area, so most of the entertainment in the bars is aimed at kids - though it's easy enough to avoid if you don't have kids.

The nicest parts of the resort are the port and the old town, because they have much more character and are less touristy. The port is only a 10 - 15 minute stroll from the hotel, and you can walk along the beach, which has stunning views of the mountains around the bay.

The old town is a bit further, but it's well worth a visit. Don't go on market day (Tuesday and Sunday) because you miss a bit of the charm of the place itself. It's much better to visit the old town around 7 O'clock when the shops are still open, then you can eat at one of the very nice restaurants in the main square.
