General Comments

Ford says to get spares for my Ford Explorer XLT from dealer in the States as they not stocked in the UK, as there is little demand. Danger anyone buying a car that was registered new in 1996 -2003. They were made around 1996 - but due to the tyre problems, were dumped in Europe.

The ones sold in UK had a totally different set of tyres on than the ones having problems in the USA during this period.

This is based on the fact that in 2000/1 I had over 23 Ford Explorer XLT and Eddie Bauer vehicles on a fleet I managed. The only reason these vehicles are not marketed in UK, is because Ford bought Land Rover. The ford explorer pricing would have seriously dented Land Rover sales in the UK! And the UK pricing was high in comparison with the USA too! Basically American citizens on the payroll were amazed at the higher prices being charged for these vehicles in the UK.
