General Comments

On a dry country road, I've yet to find a more fun car to drive. The 0 - 60 time is decent, but it's the handling that makes it worthwhile. It's almost a challenge to get it to slide on a dry surface. However, beware on a wet road...It's fine coming off a corner in 4th or 5th, but try accelerating hard out of a curve on 2nd or 3rd, and you might have some problems.

Overall, if you drive the Toyota MR2 Mk2 sensibly you'll have no problems, and many fun summer days of open top motoring! Get the roof off when the nice weather sets in and you will wonder how you did without this car. The fact that it's not a proper convertible means the wind doesn't bother you too much. Unfortunately, it's just loud enough to drown out the satisfying rumble of the engine a mere foot behind you!

I've driven a couple of MG's/MX5's/TT, and even the MR2 roadster, and they are not even comparable. The driving position is perfect, the controls are all within easy reach, the 0 - 60 of around 7.4 seconds is pretty good and the handling is out of this world. The boot is even large enough for 2 sets of golf clubs!

Keep an eye on the roof seals (if you're buying second hand, and it's a good idea to spray a hose over the top and check them out). I've had a couple of small leaks, but once you trace the source, some clear silicone does the job. The only mechanical problem I've had was with a seized caliper....again, a fairly common problem I'm told. Shop around though, and you can pick up pretty cheap parts on-line and have them installed at a local garage for about a quarter of the price of a dealership.

All in all, it is a great car, and I would recommend it to anyone!

(And the ladies seem to like it as well)!
