Good Points

137bhp in a car that weighs about 900kg. Revs to 7200rpm. Mine hits 60 in 7.2sec and goes round to 136 proven. I've got a K&N and custom exhaust, and with the power foot planted it sounds like a Scooby. The handling is amazing! Mine's been lowered 50mm on springs with 16inch alloys, and it handles like it's on rails. It doesn't bounce, under-steer or over-steer round any corner or roundabout.

Bad Points

Motorway driving managed to undo the bolts holding in the sunroof, so I had bolts rolling around in the roof lining. The clutch cable snapped twice. I went through 6 wheel bearings in the first 7 months of owning the car. The front camber was way out, causing tyres to wear on edges, but faulted due to being lowered and not a manufacturer's problem. Paint off the bonnet chips easily, and rust on the rear arches seems the be the same on every Clio. 6 hours to replace the cambelt. The clutch is going to be an engine out job. And the alternator has to come out through the headlight opening.

General Comments

Generally, the car isn't the most reliable, but if maintained properly it will just keep going. Although reading these kind of reviews may put people off, but once you jump into the lovely bucket style drivers seat and drive the Renault Clio, the smile that you can't wipe off your face is priceless. I love driving this car. I've spent 1000's of pounds servicing and keeping it on the road, and I would not change a thing. It's been quoted as a Citroen Saxo VTS, and will leave all hot hatches of its time as a little speck in your rear view mirror.
