Good Points

Clear sound. Good quality in Dolby digital. The "cinema studio A" effect, it amplified all effects found in a movie with superb realism; for music, it reproduce voice and high freq. Pretty nice, but don't expect much bass (it doesn't have very strong bass). The power source is very stable. I have 2 speakers (front + center) of 8 Oms each, and 120w rms. It is a very good choice.


Bad Points

Very small for power amp capacity. The construction and contacts inside are very sensitive to any shocks.


General Comments

I have had very few problems with the Sony STR-DE497 5.1 receiver. One problem was that the remote broke after two months, and also the heat resulting from the amp being at a higher volume. But overall, it is very good.
