DAB sensitivity is good, but on the technical front the set buzzes at a very low level all the time that it is connected to mains power, indicating a poorly designed power supply inside the box. The DAB receiver sensitivity is acceptable, but FM is quite poor. I also found tuning it quite awkward - it's fine if you only have 4 FM and 4 DAB favourites and use the presets.
Particularly at low volumes, the audio quality is quite 'boxy' or muffled. The display lighting, on during the 'sleep timer', is bright enough to read by, making it unsuitable for a bedside radio alarm clock. I haven't tried the batteries but I am prepared to believe other reviews about their short life.
On the presentation side, I can't quite put my finger on how Ferguson have managed to make a real wooden cabinet look like plastic?
The Ferguson FRG-120D DAB digital radio is quite disappointing.
As an electronics engineer, I will dive in and try to correct these 'faults', but I am really disappointed that Ferguson put their badge on this - it does them little credit.
