Good Points

Excellent value for money.
Superbly made.
Marvellous sound quality.

Bad Points

These speakers really do need to be housed on speaker stands, and finding ones that can accommodate them can be extremely difficult. Don't let this deter you from buying these speakers, as the stand problem can be overcome. Simply modify the stands that you already have!

General Comments

I needed to buy a pair of budget speakers which offer good value for money, and at the same time give excellent reproduction. Having invested in a pair of Eltax 3 speakers, I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone who cannot afford a king's ransom for excellent sound reproduction. I'm a classical music devotee and good sound quality is essential, and these speakers provide this and more.!

Having read the other reviews on this site regarding trying to find adequate speaker stands which can safely accommodate these speakers - can I offer, for what is worth, a way or obviating the need to spend vast sums of money on new speaker stands.

Having purchased a really cheap set of speaker stands from Argos, I think they were priced at about £25.00, if my memory serves correctly, to accommodate my old bookcase speakers, I was loathe to go out and spend, (even if She That Must Be Obeyed had sanctioned it), even more money on speaker stands.
My old stands are silver in colour and have three poles which support the plate on which the speaker rests.
Having measured in the plate it was quite obvious that they were going to be far too small to provide adequate and safe support. Initially, I must admit to being somewhat at a loss, as to how to overcome the problem. I read, with interest, a review on the Review Centre site that suggested placing a floor tile on each speaker stand and resting the speakers on this. I thought that this was a possible solution in my case, given that these speakers have spikes on the bottom which must be accommodated in order that the bass port can function properly, as they are situated in the bottom of the speakers.

Having given the problem more thought, I came up with the idea of resting the speakers on three blocks of wood, obtained free of charge from my local wood merchant, namely scraps that were found lying in the yard, each one secured to the stand plate with a blob of blue tack. One block at each corner at the back and one placed centrally at the front. My blocks measure 2" x 1 1/2" approximately and lift the speakers, safely and securely, up from the base plate. Simply adjust the speakers centrally so that they sit centrally over the blocks. Hope this helps!

Oh, by the way, as a final touch, I covered each block with silver duct tape, and it really does look as if I have spent 3 figures on speaker stands, as the blocks look as if they are an integral part of the stands.
