Good Points

Good points Toyota reliability !.
Power to weight ratio.
Economical performance.
Some commonly shared parts with GTi/FXGT Corolla and EL44 Paseo.

Bad Points

Lack of information available as like with many JDM vehicles, the Starlet GT Turbo was produced for the Japanese only.

General Comments

Toyota Starlet GT Turbo : Model EP82 : Production from December 1989 up to January 1996. All GT Turbo models up to January 1992 were Manual transmission only (EP82-AGMQY). Auto transmission models (EP82-AGPQY) followed in continuation with Manual versions January 1992 to end of EP82 production.
Three variants available during EP82 production : early (12/1989-01/1992), middle (01/1992-05/1994) and late (05/1994-01/1996).
Special/limited editions : early and mid "GT Limited" with Recaro interior and Momo steering wheel, and late sort after "GT Advance" with Limited Slip Differential. Engine is a L4 1331cc, DOHC, 16 valve, fuel injected turbo. Outside of Japan the both the EP82 Starlet GT Turbo and EP91 GLANZA V I am convinced are under-rated. Starlets have been run in N1 racing classes for several years in Japan as well as the more popular "FF Drag Racing". Anyone fancy a Starlet GT Turbo on a 300km run ?!. Skyline GTR's ? ... these Drag versions just eat them up and spit them out .. and for a lot less damage to your wallet too !. Following recommended websites : http://www.tatsumaki-racing.co.nz/ (Leading performance developer of Starlet GT Turbo and later GLANZA V. Extensive collection of OFFICIAL Toyota Service Publications and Parts catalogue for these vehicles). http://www.geocities.com/gtstarle1/ (Access to "gtstarlet" .. argueably the most resourced Starlet GT Turbo forum yet !) http://www.starletcentral.co.nz/ (Rapidly growing Starlet GT Turbo site and forum)
