Good Points

Excellent food, plenty of choice for fussy eaters and children. Beach bar is ideal for snacks through the day, and Magua is excellent for late night snacks (it opens at 12 and stays open until about 7am)! The staff cook the food for you, and you help yourself to the drinks!! The entertainment staff are brilliant and don't hassle you to join in if you don't want to. The games are fun and cater for all ages, although the water-polo can get very competitive. The staff are polite, and they work very hard in sweltering conditions, especially the maids - the rooms are cleaned every day and fresh towels are provided.

Bad Points

We returned to the Dorado Club in August, and we were surprised to see lots of locals arrive on Friday afternoon. They can be ill-mannered to both tourists and staff, but it did not spoil our holiday too much. The beach is big enough for everyone if you need to escape the mayhem. Get to the restaurant early evening or as soon as it opens, as the food disappears very quickly when the locals arrive!

General Comments

This hotel was EXCELLENT value for money. My family and I enjoyed ourselves so much in May that we returned again in August. Most of the rooms had been refurbished and the air conditioning had been renewed. The evening entertainment is fairly good, but for those who seek the dance floor there are two venues within stumbling distance of the Hotetur Dorado Club Resort in Puerto Plato, Dominican Republic. The prices are reasonable and entry is free. There are fantastic shops nearby, including a pizza hut! Take advantage of the free activities, such as sea kayaking, snorkeling and scuba diving - the sea kayaking is so much fun for all ages, and the sea is wonderfully warm. The trips on the monster trucks, buggies or the day trip to swim with the dolphins are highly recommended, and good value for money. Once you've visited the hotel I'm sure you'll want to go back - I will... AGAIN!
