This song returns every year.
General Comments
Slade's "Merry Christmas Everybody" IS Christmas. Put the decs up, shops all full of Christmas stuff but it isn't till I hear this song that I can really get into the Christmas spirit. On the T.V. or radio, background music in a shop, or whenever I hear it first, then I feel like Christmas is near!
Not a Christmas has gone by since it was first released in 1973 without this song being played. It is well and truly the best Christmas classic ever, and as the brilliantly loud gravel pitched but tuneful cement mixer voice of Noddy Holder sings out - "It's Christmas!!!!" And you just know it is!!
