Once you get over the steep learning curve, this is one of the best editors and compositor software available for the non-OSX. I have been using Premiere since version 6.0 came out.
I have also tried Vegas, Avid, and for simple edits on my laptop, I have used the low end Pinnacle stuff. When performance, capability and control are necessary within a limited time period, this is the one I would recommend. I won't bore you with details that match those found on their website. I love it.
Like most NLE's of this category, they are not cheap, and Adobe Premiere Pro 2 is certainly no exception. Full versions run in the $600 area and limit those who would become customers. It also has a steep learning curve like all professional NLE's, but it's certainly easier to learn and use than AVID.
For those who only need simplicity or a solution that makes them look like pro's in an hour, this is not for you. For the person who wants to become better than the limitations placed on them due to low end software, I would highly recommend the Adobe premiere Pro 2 video creation and editing software.
