Good Points

Small and light.

Bad Points

Breaks all the time! Messaging not as user friendly or useful as other phones I have used.

General Comments

I hate it with a vengeance. I have had nothing but problems with my J70 and here are just a few consistent faults; randomly turns itself off, randomly turns sound off, freezes and only way to get it to work is by removing the battery, recent call list lies or it has been calling random people, I sometimes get a very loud interference noise (which is nice!) oh and I often can't answer it - just keeps ringing and ignoring the fact I am pressing the receive button. Overall - random! Even when I had the phone replaced with a new one the faults re-appeared. In Sony's defence I have two friends with the same phone and they do not have as many problems as I do?!

i couldn't agree more with this review. I have had mine for about 5 months & it hasn't worked properley from day 1. The trouble is after the usual run around that The shop gave me, this wasted the 28 day refund policy. i have had several repairs 7 replacement handsets but it doesn't solve the fact that this is the worst most un-reliable phone ever made. I still have an old BT Cellnet C12 Savvy that gives less trouble & I dropped that in the sea several times. how the networks could agree to have this phone on their network is beyond me. The only way to get my money back now is to go to take the company I bought this phone from to court for selling what they would have known to be substandered equipment.

Yes I do agree to some of J-70's faults, I had to face freezing fault but do you know what causes it? There are two receptor chips one for GSM 900 and one for GSM 1800. My GSM 900 chip was mal functioning from the day I purched my phone, in fact I purched three Sony J 70s and all of them had the same freezing problem but when I changed the GSM 900 chip I never had that problem again and its doing fine. I liked this phone because it has great talk time and I found the big phone book with multiple entries is quite helpful if your SIM can store only 100 numbers. I had a smaller phone than this Alcatel 512 thats a great phone too but I like Sony more than that and exchanged Alcatel 512 with my wife. Plus for me Sony has a great reception quality I found it working in poor reception areas where many other phone were searching for network under the same operator. Probably RF radiation level in Sony J 70 is lower than many other phones like Nokia and Alcatel it doesnot go so hot like other phones while you are talking for a long time and its noise free.

So how do you fix the fault becuase i have taken it to someone who regularily fixes the phones i have and he says its a mangagers fault.
