- Have you made a claim?Yes
I took out this policy when my dog was eight weeks old. I did my homework on this policy and found it to be very good, and the cover was excellent. I was into the second year of the policy and had to put in a claim. I found the service to be great and they paid out very very quickly. It turns out that my dog will have his condition the rest of his life so he will be on constant medication. So far they have paid out £1008, and I have paid my £75.00 excess. The most costly part of the claim was the vet referral appointments and the tests.
Bad Points
Disgusted that at renewal time they increased my premium from £10.00 per month to £25.00 per month. Before I took this policy out I phoned them and asked that if I ever claimed would the premium increase and I was advised that it wouldn't. So now they have a no claim bonus scheme do they? The policy booklet doesn't mention a no claims bonus so surely my premium shouldn't go up that much.
General Comments
I have friends that have claimed on their pet insurance and I can assure you that their premium didn't increase that much, maybe a couple of pounds at the most. So I would definitely not recommend Sainsburys PetCare insurance. You would be better of paying the higher premium with petplan to start with. If they had paid out the maximum £6500, what would my premium have increased to?
