Absolutely none!
I would advice those looking to buy a car, to view it, before putting down a deposit, otherwise, they will not return your money to you.
I would seriously advice people not to put down deposits for cars they have seen on the Internet. My brother and I contacted The Car Shop regarding a Ford Focus. It had unfortunately been sold but he informed us of the availability of a similar car that had only just arrived, a 5 door 1.6 Zetec (2003) for £6,274 (around 23,000 miles). The salesman waxed on lyrically about how their cars were always snapped up very quickly and that we needed to put a deposit down in order to ensure it wasn't going to someone else. He also stated should we not be pleased with it for any reason on the day we come to pick it up, our money would be given to us with no questions asked. Feeling assured by that statement, we put down a deposit for £450.00 using my credit card. He also faxed over an order form to be signed, which I did and faxed it back to him.
When the details of the car was finally displayed on their site, it turned out it didn't have any air-conditioning, so I contacted them and cancelled the order. They said not to worry and that they would try to find another car with the same specs with air-conditioning. It turns out that air-conditioning didn't come as standard for that particular make, so I again asked for my money to be returned to me. The salesman refused and said it wasn't in the terms and conditions. What terms and conditions, I asked? You didn't state anything when we were making arrangements to purchase the car. I also reminded him about his telling both my brother and I that we could have our money back if we were not pleased with the car, which he finally admitted to, after I put the question to him for the fourth time.
I reported the issue to my credit card company who are currently looking into it. The reply the CC company received from The Car Shop was the standard response regarding the terms and conditions which they didn't notify us about. I will be seeking further advice from the Citizens advice bureau to retrieve my money from these guys.
Do not buy any car from them unless you've seen it with your own two eyes.
Beware!!!
