I drove my Nissan Micra K10 GSX to Mongolia this summer, over 10,000 miles in under 2 months, with not a single mechanical fault. I'd like to see any of today's car's stand up to such a ruthless test over 3 deserts and 5 mountain ranges! My Micra is a 1991 988cc GS with 60,000 on the clock.
A negative point is that it rusts a lot more than other cars of similar age, due to lack of any rustproofing as standard.
I firmly believe that no one needs a car over 1 litre. If I drove to Mongolia in one, then you can drive your life on motorways without your 1.8L. Plus there would be much less oil consumption and probably less pollution in general. Someone buy Mr. Bush one!
