General Comments

I hope I can help anyone to avoid the mess Halifax created for me. I recently took a secured loan from netloans.co.uk and redeemed an existing one with the Halifax. When the funds were sent to the Halifax to clear the secured loan, instead of clearing the balance and closing the account, they paid off a chunk of my mortgage! I only realised when they contacted me chasing payment for the secured loan. I advised them that I had paid it off, but they were insistent that it was still open. I could not believe what had happened.

If anyone has a mortgage and a secured loan with the Halifax, when you come to pay it off, make sure they assign the funds to the correct account.
