A complete rip off
Arrogant staff
Budget rent a car is a complete rip off and every time you go to their desk either to pick the car up or to drop it off all they do is take your money off you for any kind of stale reason which they invent there and then. The staff are very arrogant and unhelpful and thanks to them I left Ireland with a very bad taste in my mouth and will never return again.
When we first arrived at Cork airport we were told that our excess will be 900 Euros if we don't take their insurance, having paid for the rental online, we were left with no choice but to pay £11 a day extra for their insurance cover. Meanwhile the guy took a deposit from us for the fuel which was to be given back to us upon returning the fuel tank full when we dropped off the vehicle... or so we thought! As soon as we started our holiday in Ireland, we were already feeling very cautious, as the guy seemed very dodgy. After 3 days our short break holiday came to an end and we made our way back to the airport but got lost along the way. We managed to arrive at the airport on time to check in for our flight and after we had to go and pick up our fuel deposit from the budget rent a car desk at Cork airport. When we got there we found an extremely arrogant guy who told us that because we were 1 hour late with returning the car they are going to charge us the full price for a days rental plus £11 comprehensive insurance... which in the end they did as we had no time to argue as we were going to miss the flight. After a few minutes we realised that he didn't even give us a receipt, when my husband went back for it, he told him that he had already shredded all our papers!!! What a cheeky person, and this was the last person we had to deal with before we left Ireland. This sent us back home with a very sour taste indeed! If you don't want to spoil your holiday don't hire your car from Budget rent a car.
