Simple, durable, uses excellent Contax or Yashica ML manual lenses
Plastic rewind lever sometimes breaks, later production super-2000 models were made in China and have lousy mirror mechanisms and dim viewfinders
The last of the simple manual focus mechanical Yashica SLRs, the Yashica FX-3 and FX-3 Super are simple, durable and reliable cameras - I've seen only one lock up and have owned several. They put up with dust and grit better than most SLRs and have an excellent mechanical metal shutter. The Super-2000 was the last version with 1/2000 shutter speed and commands a better price. But, look out!! Towards the end production was shifted to China (see the bottom plate for country of production), where the camera nameplate was shifted to a much cheaper version. Avoid these like the plague, as they are plagued with mirror vibration, dim viewfinders and easily cracked plastic top plates.
