Good Points

Warm, welcoming reception. Set in Peaceful fishing village. Walking distance to beach. Local guides really helped us make the most of our first time in Gambia and looked after us superbly. We were able to choose whether to cook for ourselves, eat local food prepared by the guides with them or in our apartment, go to the local bars and restaurants or get a take away. Really took the stress out of planning a self catering holiday. Usually ate freshly prepared fish dishes with our guides.

Bad Points

Need to get a taxi or local bus to the nearest town of Kololi - approximately 10mins away.

General Comments

Our holiday at Brufut Village Apartments was a unique experience that both of us can`t wait to repeat. Waking up to the sounds of Gambia and experiencing life in a traditional village has been a life changing experience. The people are so genuinely warm and friendly it made it easy to relax and enjoy the experience. Would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to try a holiday away from hotels and tourist resorts. The apartment had mosquito nets at the doors and window, and over the beds which gave added protection. If you buy what you can from the local shops e.g. mosquito repellent it is much cheaper than using the shops in town. It is also worth checking out the prices at a few beach bars before you decide which one to go for as prices vary a lot. Some sunbeds are free others you pay for. If you are on a budget buying fish from the fishermen as they bring their catch to shore is also much cheaper than waiting for it to come to market. The guides will help you get a good price. Be prepared to haggle.
