Excellent fuel consumption - 52 mpg at 65 mph; Very very comfortable - drove to La Rochelle from Calais and did not suffer at all with discomfort. Sits with cruise control on at various speeds; DSTC helps with 'dodgy' bends; Leather seats with memory function excellent; Sunroof along with climate control = best of both worlds; very quite at high speeds - slight noise at lower speeds; beautiful stereo multi cd player. Feels very safe; Insurance group 10-11
A column interferes with vision to an extent especially at junctions; boot has plenty of space but previous cars had seat belts to secure parcels with, this version does not. Expensive to buy an automatic diesel.
This is my third Volvo. My wife has the S40 I had the V40 and previously 740 - all well above par. As I said if they made an automatic 20D that would mean 10/10. It has a feeling of luxury expected (but not nowadays found) in Mercedes at a lot less than Merc prices. the floating console is unique the space is fabulous. I drove in France and covered 1400 miles no complaints at all. But I have had it three months (my wife's S40 same car different shape) is 14 months old and equally great. i would shop around if you want one. This one with stacks of bits cost me over 4K less than a brand new model - I got it with just over 7k. Lookers Volvo in Chelmsford and Stratsoen in Barkingside (Essex) very good.
