Ibanez AF86 VLS Review

Good Points
Sound, quality of construction, tone, appearance, craftsmanship, value (bought new off the shelf for $CDN 540)

Bad Points
Factory set-up (nut, intonation, action) was sloppy - another $CDN 90 for a professional set-up brought out the true quality of the neck

General Comments
I was out off by 'Made in China' but trusted the Ibanez name enough to play it - I was impressed. This guitar looks and plays like instruments two and three times the price. It is a true hollow body with nice fat tone! The electronics are fine, even though I was warned about them on (apparently other) cheap guitars. Great for jazz and even rock, but it will feedback quickly at high volume especially with high gain. (That is why they invented the solidbody, right!) Overall I am very impressed after 30 days and a few jams. I have played for almost 30 years and I've owned mostly Strats (including a '64!) through the years.
