Dedicated Walkman buttons, very bright and colorful screen, good battery life for the amount of operations the phone takes out, excellent sound quality, easy to use software for the Walkman section of the and good compression software is used in the process of moving your music from your computer to your phone.
Bad Points
Buttons are close together making it hard to text, the plastic hook at the top of the phone that is used for reception but is a little bulky, can experience freezing in the middle of operation but is over in less then 9 seconds.
General Comments
Working in retail I see a lot of phones and as part of my job I analyze them. The Walkman series is an interesting one because it is a series of phones that is based on bringing your digital music player and you phone together. Being a Walkman phone the Sony Ericsson W300i has volume up and down, skip track back and forward and play and pause all built into three buttons neatly on the side of the phone. This is a classic feature of the Walkman series, having easy access buttons to your Walkman in the phone.
The W300i also has a dedicated Walkman button that takes you directly to the Walkman section of the phone. Again another classic feature of the Walkman series.
The software built into this phone is very efficient, especially the Walkman section of the phone. This part of software of the phone is design to be just like digital music player with menus for the arties, tracks, play list and now playing, making it easy to uses and enjoy.
In the Walkman series this is the first Walkman phone that is a clam shell (flip phone), this is a very appealing look for the W300i.
This phone is a monochromic phone, so this mean that there are two screens one very bight and colorful screen on the inside of the phone and on the out side of the phone a orange display screen that shows who is calling you, who is messaging you, what song you're playing and most of the operations that may be taking place at the time on the phone.
The W300i does have the buttons built close together but it is easy to get use to.
The camera that is built into the front of the phone is a VGA camera and is of a descent quality and for basic use. It is good for your photos and videos.
The W300i is compatible with M2 memory cards (micro SD card), the only disadvantage to this is that you can only buy up to 1G (gigabit) at the moment but further development may develop a larger M2 memory card (micro SD card).
The USB cable to Sony Ericsson connection plug used with the phone is used to plug your phone into your computer so that you are able to download music to your phone, download pictures to your computer from your phone and use many other useful peaces of software.
The cable supplied with the phone for your headphones and radio has a built in 3.5mm jack-in connection which is adaptable to most headphones and other connection you many wish to plug your phone into.
The ear bugs that are supplied for you music are of a high quality and are surprisingly better then most of the ear bugs you receive with your digital music players.
The price of this phone is another very attractive part of this W300i, as the phone is considerably cheaper then other Walkman phones and hold very similar features as the other Walkman phones.
In all, the W300i is a very well designed phone and I do recommend this phone if you are look to combined your digital music player and phone into one and save some space in your pocket or handbag.
