Styling, Side lever, accuracy, power, performance, consistency and reliability. Fun factor!
Plastic trigger, guard and muzzle break/sight. Cheesy sheet metal sights and barrel shroud. Relatively heavy. Poorly profiled sight post and notch. I ignore these just because the overall quality and function is excellent.
I purchased the RWS Diana 48 in .22 after owning one in .177 cal. for a couple of years. The .177 was such a fine airgun I couldn't resist the same package with more power.
Everything that is true about the RWS 48 in .177 is true in spades for the .22 cal model. Just more power, more punch. Distance shots I pulled with the .177 were not an issue with the .22. I knew the reach and energy was there.
As with my first RWS Diana 48, the fit and finish is mostly first rate, as you would expect from German arms makers. It's consistently accurate and powerful at any range. It looks good. It's easy to charge and shoot.
I hear of complaints about the kick inherent in heavy springers but I don't get that at all. It's a non issue. It's just a little movement in the mechanism and it doesn't compare to the kick of any firearm of any caliber I ever shot. If you have developed a good hold technique, your shot placement will not be upset by any perceived recoil.
Nits: Plastic trigger, guard and muzzle break/sight. Cheesy sheet metal sights and barrel shroud. Relatively heavy. Poorly profiled sight post and notch. I ignore these just because the overall quality and function is excellent.
Pics: Styling, Side lever, accuracy, power, performance, consistency and reliability. Fun factor!
It'll digest any pellet but Crosman Premier Domed (14.3) are the best. Devastating on squirrels, crows and bullseyes!
I liked it so much my .177 RWS 48 has just been gathering dust.
I'm considering getting one in .25 cal next!
