Superb value for money
stock finish could be better
I previously owned a Beretta 686 sporting for years. Recently though I acquired a 686 onyx sporting. In my opinion it is probably the most handsome gun beretta has ever made (they previously had a 682 with similay finish).
The gun is reliable and responsive. I think it is a great value for money, since 687s and 682s, which are really the same gun with some cosmetic upgrades, cost almost twice as much.
Now to the back boring phenomenon. There is very little to gain in terms of either recoil or shot pattern. After all the string of competition victories which are so touted by beretta were won with standard barrells.
Just like anything else it makes a good selling point. The fact is that berettas are so well designed and there is so little to go wrong that they would be foolish to change them.
