My Mitsubishi L300 used oil at 7000km, had new rings at 9000km, all under warranty. It had a bad rattle in the rear that took months to find, leaf spring banging on something. The gearbox clunky and does not engage smoothly. It does have plenty of grunt and handles better than the early 90's models and is $15,000 cheaper than Toyota's Hiace but I say spend the extra, buy a Hiace.
