Points can accumulate quickly and at a variety of locations.
The system and security for claiming points and the resulting lack in customer care.
I had accumulated a great number of points on my Nectar Card (enough for a waffle iron or a day out at Alton Towers or something) and decided to keep collecting until I could get something better. The only problem is that at the same time, someone else had their own ideas to use my points.
I received a points update and a few hundred points had gone missing. Upon checking, they told me that I had claimed them towards an item at Argos. No such transaction occurred but they would offer me no further assistance. Not acceptable.
