Good Points

The reception area deceives you into thinking that you have made a good choice. All looks 4 star at this point. The swimming pool area is nice although everything is broken (pool table, table tennis, etc).


Bad Points

I had booked a family room direct on the Internet and received email confirmation as such but when we arrived the hotel had changed it to two non-interconnecting rooms without prior notice. When I asked for this to be rechecked the member of staff was unbelievably rude and this was on arrival!! It was late so we took the rooms to be sorted in the morning. The rooms are very worn and smell (2 star at best). The air con did not work in x1 room and in other was very noisy. We did get the family room next day. None of the entertainment advertised on the Avlida Hotel website was available. There are no locks on the doors in the gents toilets. I tried to use the Gym but every machine was broken or dangerous condition. The Sauna door would not close so unusable. There are no staff in the health and beauty rooms. I had to fix our toilet flush x3 times as I got fed up with the poor effort by the so called maintenance team. Our bathroom door would not close. I finally blew when I could no longer put up with the smell in our room and started to look for the cause under the beds..to my horror when I pulled back a bed there was empty bottles, cans, bits of food and ANIMAL EXCREMENT on the carpet. I insisted on speaking direct to the Manager as the staff are always reluctant to call him He apologised and said that the whole room would be cleaned for when we got back in the afternoon, he offered half board then full board as compensation but having heard several guests complaining about the food I declined. All the compounding incidents had ruined our stay and we decided that as we only had two nights left we would put up with it, rather than lose even more time of our holiday trying to relocate.


General Comments

Myself, my daughter , and my son all have ear infections and as my partner does not and did not use the pool like we did I now believe the pool caused this as well.

If you look at the Avlida website and book on this basis you are being grossly mis-lead and this must constitute unfair trading and fraud.

I would definitely not go back or recommend and I am now pursuing the hotel for compensation through UK and International trading standards as the hotel refused to reduce my £111.00. GBP per night bill in line with 3 star accommodation. We left at 3.00am on our last night to drive to the airport as we could not wait to leave the hotel and its filthy room.
