Good Points

Nice bright screen inside, hundreds of features for those who want them. The square antenna is great because it won't break off. Its small size is very appealing. Body seems sturdy. Holds many contacts. Easy to set an alarm once you set up the phone. Very easy initial set up of voice mail. Once you get used to it, the back button is useful and great for texting. The dictionary works well. This is a phone you might want to read the book on.

Bad Points

Goes dark very quickly to save battery since it has hundreds of battery draining features. Outside screen is tiny and I am too old to read the time now at a glance, so it loses its value as a timepiece without opening it because of tiny characters and it goes dark right away. PTT button makes very annoying noise and prompts you every time you pick up the phone. Beeping in pocket or briefcase or purse when this protruding button is pushed.

General Comments

I asked for a simple, easy to use phone and the Cingular store folks insisted this Sony Ericsson Z525a was it. It is especially perplexing because I said I wanted a phone that didn't make noise when I picked it up like my old Motorola clamshell phone did, with its outside buttons. It is probably great for the phone geek. It will hold a calendar, email, etc., and it has voice dialing, which I couldn't get to work very reliably. It works with Bluetooth if you don't care about how it sounds as you talk. Seemed to get bad reception in places my old phone got good reception. This is a very menu-driven phone. There is no obvious call and hang up button. You have to read the menu choices for everything.
