Drayton Manor Family Theme Park - that it truly is.
I live in Warwickshire, about 20 minutes away from the park. That is one of the reasons why myself and others were first attracted to the park...it was close and, of coarse, looked good too.
I've been to the park twice before (in 2003 and 2005), but arrived just before midday and left by about 5:00pm. Therefore, I didn't really get much of a chance to explore the park. However, this time I went, I got a really good look at almost every ride that there was to try out because of arriving at the park at it's opening and waiting there until the park was closed.
The best rides definitely have to be Shockwave and Stormforce 10. However, some families will have problems managing to get on these, especially Shockwave, as younger ones don't tend to like thrill rides such as these and too there are awkward height restrictions.
Shockwave is highly comparable to the park's newest ride, G-Force.
If you're looking for the most daring ride which gives you the strangest sensation, in my opinion it would have to be Maelstrome. When you on look the ride, it doesn't actually look too bad, but when you get on it, the way you are driven both up and down really gives you a felling of such strong sensations that it feels a lot more thrilling and strange then G-Force and Shockwave put together!
Drayton Manor isn't just full of these big, scary rides, though. There are loads of family fun areas of the park to, consisting of small, fun rides, shows and even some family-suited rollercoasters which cover a large selection of young ages.
There are some little bad points, though. For example, I personally think that some of the rides aren't really showed much care by park staff. For example, the waiting building for Stormforce 10, which was only opened in 1999 by Steps, looks like it has been there for decades (since signs of aging and no care are aplenty). The newer the rides are, the better the quality gets, but I don't think that things such be that way, especially on even some of the older rides which still, however, give many of the park's customers masses of fun!
Overall, I strongly recommend the park. I also think that it's a lot more family-suited that Alton Towers, which I think is a park more suited for teenagers and adults.
