Good Points

Very large theme park which is good for healthy walking even if you don't go on many rides.

Bad Points

I had to come home!

General Comments

I've been a few popular theme parks like Alton Towers and Thorpe Park in the UK. PortAventura is up there amongst the best IMHO. We stayed at the Hotel PortAventura so access to the park was free throughout our stay. Excellent value for money, though our hotel room was probably closer to Reus airport than hotel reception (read: it was a long way to walk to the hotel room!). Good news though, as we were at the far end of the complex we didn't have any disturbance at all from late night revellers walking back to their rooms late at night.

The only minor niggly point for me was that I got a nasty blister on my foot (bad footwear....) so had to stay in the hotel for an evening. The only TV channels available in English were Sky News and CNN News. Everything else was (presumably) Spanish. So it was pretty boring watching TV because the news repeats every 30 minutes - one of those rare occasions where some major incident taking place which didn't involve President Bush stubbing his toe would have given something of interest. However as you don't go to PortAventura to watch TV this isn't such a bad gripe.

Aside from that my family loved the place. Somewhere we'd probably go back to, finances permitting. If you've got youngsters it's definitely worth the visit, and the pools around the hotel (with lifeguards) can make for a very pleasant time during the afternoon - then go into the theme park in the evening when the crowds have gone home.

I'm very glad I went, even though I'm not one for the big rides.

Respect given for kazmax's review.
