Good Points

Powerful, nice finish, accurate for the power, range second to none, 1250fps claimed, threaded barrel, silencer

Bad Points

Extremely loud, quality of the stock, barrel breaks a little bit if you drop it down a little too quick when resting on something, price, and apparently they lose power quicker then other air rifles, recoil, a little hard to cock

General Comments

Gamo Hunter 1250, well I brought one about 1 week ago in .177 cal. I shot about 2000 pelits after previously owning a Diana RWS mdl35. I guess I wanted something to shoot around my 1.2 acres of land I've got out the back of Seberbia here in Perth, West Australia. I went on this site and read the reviews and thought yep that's me, the V8 of air rifles! They said it was loud but I'm thinking to my self how loud can an air rifle be, so I brought one, well bugger me, the thing was louder than my .22 rimfire, but having said that I got some Gamo TS-10's and that took the supersonic crack out of it and made the rifle discreet enough to shoot around the back yard. Having said that though, I don't trek around with it but rather sit in the back room resting on a desk with the barrel hanging out the window, covering bout 1000sqm of back yard and yeah it's fun, but hunting with thing?? Yeah, it would definitely take out a rabbit or kangaroo if you got a head shot, up to 50m away I guess, but why would u take your air rifle out hunting boasting a whole 4.5kg's of weight with out the scope? You could simply grab a .22 rimfire for around the same cost and at 87% lighter, more powerful, no recoil and a lot easier to use! In Oz you still need a rifle licence to posses a rifle no mater what it is, so yeah, I guess if you're a mad keen air rifle person, go get your self one. You will love it!! I'd go for the .22mdl though, but if you're just up for a bit of shootin round the back yard, grab a 1000fps for around half the price. Another thing that did not impress me with the 1250 was the stock. I leaned it against the wall and it slid down and landed on its side, nothing too extreme though, so I picked it up and here's this 8 inch crack right through the side of the stock stemming from one of the front mount bolts....mmmm.....$750.00 for that sort of quality! Needless to say I got another one through warranty, but aye! So to sum it up I guess if you don't need a licence to get an air rifle, yeah get one, you won;t find one with more power and to my surprise, it is actually pretty accurate too, but if you have got to go to the trouble of getting a rifle licence, why bother with something that's going to get as much attention as a .22 rimfire, with subsonic's in it? Bullets are a little more pricey but come on, $4.50 for a pack of 50, so yeah there you have it. I may post a review in 6 months time to say I've changed my mind but I don't think so.
