Good Points

High build quality allied to more than ample performance give a subtle mix of classless luxury and the knowledge that few other road-users can out-perform you.... even if you choose to gently cruise along.

Bad Points

A bit of an eye-opener when it comes to paying your insurance premiums, also in early form was rather anonymous for the price.

General Comments

The model enjoys that most enticing of mixes, that of just the right amount of body-control and compliance to provide a smooth and wholly contolled ride. The engine is tuned just on the edge of sporty but retaining a depth of torque even at just above idle to provide both the top-end rush and good old 'grunt' pulling away. The 'quattro' system is almost unnoticed until you need it, giving a class-unrivalled cornering prowess and very 'chuckable' handling to surprise both it's driver and other road-users! Fuel economy is very good indeed, especially if the on-board computer is utilised to moderate one's aggressive instincts.... full-power useage will make even a wealthy owner wince if a weather-eye is kept on that readout, however viewed in it's entirety, the A6 Quattro 2.8 is a remarkable vehicle, featuring a huge array of abilities that housed in it's ever so restrained styling, provide a new breed of classless luxury that a proper 'grown-up' can really appreciate.
