Sales person at Atkinson's Replacement Doors was good. He did not give the hard sell, and was quite honest with his assessment. He did not recommend the most expensive items.
Very pleased with granite work top that was provided and with the granite work top fitters.
Quality and craftsmanship of Kitchen Facades fitters (not worktop) was average to poor. Indeed some of the things they did were laughable - one door was not fitted flush to one of the carcasses, and in such a way as to prevent the dishwasher door from opening. It looked like a 15 year old's GCSE woodwork project gone wrong!
There was a mismatch between what we were told on the telephone as to what we were meant to do in relation to switching off the gas, and what the work top fitters actually wanted us to do. This meant we had to incur additional money with our person who came to turn the gas on/off (although to be fair to Atkinsons they did give us some compensation for this).
The fitters were nice guys but not professional and had to be pointed to errors in their work before they corrected them.
The fitters come down from Yorkshire and appeared to be in a rush to get back up there at the end of the day. If done again, we think we would have chose a local (ie London) based firm. Having said that these firms tend to be based outside London.
Confusion reigned on the days when the fitters were meant to come. Some days, despite my wife having spoken to the company to arrange a day, the fitters would come on a different day. Sometimes, when they happened to be in the area, they said "Can we just pop in?". Again, not really how things should be done, and very difficult if you have a young family!
The quality of Atkinson's Replacement Doors and their materials is pretty good (the work top was excellent), but the professionalism and quality of the Kitchen Facades fitters was average at best.
I think the idea of having replacement doors is a good one. If done again, I'd try to co-opt a friend or trusted recommended builder to fit them for me. But then again, where do you find these?
