I've just returned from a week staying at the Samoa Hotel in Calas De Mallorca, and I could have honestly stayed another week or so quite happily!

The hotel itself is a big hotel with 8 floors, a large reception and sitting area, a huge dinning hall, amusement room, bar and terrace area and a stage and a good sized pool with umbrellas and sun loungers.

On arrival, (if you are all inclusive, which I presumed was the only board basis for the hotel) you have your picture taken and you are given a card. You use this throughout the duration of you stay at the hotel. You need to use the card when you go to the bar to get drinks (the bar staff will swipe it through a machine) and you will need to take it when you go for your meals. However, when you do have meals, sometimes they swipe it and sometimes they don't (but you had probably best have it with you just in case)!

The staff at the hotel are all Spanish (apart from the entertainment staff), but they do know bits of English, so communicating is not a problem, and they were always very friendly and sometimes had a chat with you.

Our rep at the hotel was brilliant! We were with Thomas Cook, but she worked for Sunset Holidays (I think that's right?). She was great at our welcome meeting, and she went through all the usual information about trips and places to visit etc, but she was also very honest about prices. For example, if you didn't book the trip through the hotel/Thomas Cook, you could get it at half the price! (Very helpful information to know)! She knew all the best bars that everyone went to, and she was just a great help!(We even had a night out with her too! She's hilarious!

The Samoa Hotel faces the town centre (I say centre, but it's not very big as far as town centres go), which, although it's not known for its nightlife, it's still there if you want it, and because there are select bars that everyone goes to, they are always full and the atmosphere is great! The centre also hosts your usual numbers of bars and plenty of shops; mostly tourist shops, but some specialist ones.

The nightlife however was great!! After 12 o'clock when the entertainment in the hotel finishes is the best time to go out, as that is when it gets lively. The best bars to go to were Papaguay's and the karaoke bar next to it. All the staff work together in these two bars and they're a great laugh! From doing karaoke competitions, great cocktails and the Full Monty! (Excellent)! Also, everyone seems to know everyone else, so it's a great atmosphere and lots of fun. We used to end up in Tiffany's, that was also a karaoke bar but a club, and it stayed open until 5am, which was excellent! This bar was also where the locals used to end up going after they'd finished work. You were guaranteed to see your bar staff and entertainers here, which proves that it's good, as it it is where everybody else goes! The DJ in here was really funny too (very cheeky though), and always used to say "hiya" to us over the microphone when we got there and were at the bar getting drinks. So anyone thinking that Calas is quiet and not to go there for a partying holiday they would be wrong, as it's brilliant!!

The drinks though, with most places abroad are very strong, as they don't seem to measure anything and just stop pouring when they feel like it! So you're guaranteed to get trollied.

The entertainers at the hotel were brilliant as well, and they worked all day and entertained the children and put on shows at night, which at times were odd but others were hilarious (if you are going try and catch the "crazy mix show")!

I could go on and on with the best points about this hotel, but my advice is to go and find out for yourself. Everyone who holidays there is really friendly, and you're guaranteed to make friends and have a great time. Defiantly a holiday to remember! I cannot recommend it enough! 10/10!
