The pools were beautiful. The reception looked like it was floating on water. I would recommend the green pool which is the quietist pool. The staff and management were very helpful and friendly even to the extent of opening a bar for us just because we sat next to it. I would recommend going B and B as the meals were inexpensive and always freshly cooked. The coffee shop was less formal and more at ease than the dining area. The rooms are fantastic and very clean. We visited the rain forest which is worth a visit and had lunch in a Sri Lankan home which was organized by Thomas Cook. Food was wonderful.
The traffic was bad in Colombo but that's part of being in Sri Lanka.
The hotel has just re -opened after the Tsunami. The people of Sri Lanka are lovely and they make the place. The Sri Lankan's on the beach are very friendly and yes, they do want to sell you things but that is their livelihood. They are always kind. We met up with the tour guides on the beach and went on 2 trips with them. They were very professional and looked after us very well. Visit a turtle hatchery to support the conservation project- you will never forget it.
Well worth a visit!!!!
