The songs are long and still catchy. From the smiting opener Blackened to the fervent closer Dyers' Eve, this holds attention throughout. The guitars just clench you in.
Holds some of the best Metallica classics, Blackened, One, and the title track. These are songs that would be welcome in any metal band's catalogue.
Bad Points
The production is low quality, and on top of that Mr Newsted's bass is put way back into the mix. It sounds rather bland sonically.
General Comments
This is really a decent Metallica album. On par with the likes of their debut opener Kill 'em All, this is another captivating listen by the fallen metal warriors that name themselves Metallica. It has some excellent songs, a good instrumental again in To Live Is To Die, and it is simply one of the better Metallica albums there is. If you're finished listening to Master Of Puppets and Ride The Lightning, get this. If you're only familiar with St. Anger, get this. You're in a world of enjoyable experiences. Basically, just get this album.
