Good Points

Good interest rates.


Bad Points

Good interest rates on savings don't take long to dwindle away.
Poor secure banking design, and poor compatibility with Mac computers.
Poor customer service.


General Comments

I tried Cahoot Internet Banking after seeing it in a top 10 list somewhere with excellent rates of interest with the savings account and current account. These interest rates dwindle away to just average rates incredibly quickly after joining, which is annoying when good interest rates are the main reason for joining. I was told a much needed redesign of the secure banking section was coming in a 'couple of weeks'. Needless to say, months later and there is still no sign of any update to the site. I wanted to know some information about deposits, so I tried using the help function, which you have to type your question into and hope it finds an answer! Quite a dated internet function which has never been found to be particularly reliable of useful, and it is certainly not user friendly. On my mac, even using Firefox, it doesn't display correctly and doesn't work at all. So no answer to my query. As a result I emailed them, where I received an answer in good time. However, with the issue of the help function not working on a Mac, they basically said tough luck! The secure banking section is ugly and dated, and far from a clean and user friendly layout like many of the competitors these days.

I've stayed with Cahoot for 2 months, and enough is enough. I've looked around and seem to have found a really good account called Smile. It looks like everything I wanted Cahoot to be.
