My 123ehost web hosting account was recently hacked, and upon calling tech support they refused to give me any information that could help me discover who the hacker was. I repeatedly asked them for the FTP log. The first time they blew me off completely. After repeated calls they sent me the HTTP access log. Finally, they sent the FTP access log, but by then either their logs had rotated or they simply didn't care, because they only sent me the logs for 1 day, a day which was about 1 week after the hacker got in.

On more than one occasion I also had to explain to the tech over the phone how he could send me the information I was requesting. They kept iterating the fact that the FTP logs are global and that those cannot be sent. After asking for a filtered version of the log I got a bevy of excuses, my favorite one being "our servers do not have the software to do that." (p.s. they run *nix). I tried to explain to him how to Grep the log, and after several days and the involvement of an "Administrator" there I got nothing.
