General Comments

The Super Nintendo (SNES) was arguably the best value for money machine ever produced. This games console was released by Nintendo around April 1992 in the UK, was a massive global success as the battle with the Sega Mega Drive raged for the crown of 16-Bit champion of the world. This period is regarded as something of a "golden era" in gaming history, and produced many game titles regarded as all-time classics. The fact that games continued to be produced for the SNES well into the 32-Bit era indicated the consoles popular appeal.

Myself and my brothers all shared a SNES. We received our machine on the morning of Christmas Day 1993, and it replaced the old NES console (which we had had to endure the disparagement of, only having Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles to play on for a full calendar year). The SNES came with SuperMario Bros3, which was a complete bonus. This game was soon followed by Street Fighter, Striker, StarFox, F-Zero and SuperMario Kart. Our experiences with the Turtles games had been long forgotten, and we purchased both Turtles in Time and Turtle Tournament Fighters. The most anticipated game purchase came on the back of the phenomenon that was the WWF. With the benefit of hindsight, the WWF Wrestlemania game was pretty woeful.

Overall the SNES was a great console, and although some folk will always regard the Mega-Drive as superior, I can honestly say that I gained as much, if not more enjoyment from my machine as I have from either the PS1 and PS2 consoles. Although our Mark was a bit of a "one move billy" on Street Fighter. Enjoy!

When my father suprised me on Christmas day back in 1993 with a SNES + Street Fighter 2 package I was perhaps the most delighted kid on Christmas day in the whole world. The somewhat downside to this surprise, was that my father was somewhat a little bit behind the times when it came to understanding the actual concept of the specific requirements for an entertainments games console - 'Consoles Require Games' - and so street fighter 2 was the only game he ever purchased me (I eventually bought my own games when I was 19 and had left school for 4 years). Zelda was a game I bought from Cash Converters, I also 'Borrowed' for a very long time some games of a lad called Pingu.
