Good Points

Good location, close to Sandown and cycle paths. Clean and well kept site.

Bad Points

Shockingly bad attitude from management to having children on site. As parents who ensure their children have minimal impact to others, we can't believe how unaccommodating to the general play of young children this site is.

General Comments

Children will play when on holiday and should be expected to do so. However the management on the Southland Camping Park, Isle of Wight do not see it that way. Our children (3 and 6 years old) are very closely supervised when they are playing outside. Like all children they will make some noise. Given that we visited in the middle of the summer holidays, what can anyone expect? The site where happy when we booked that we had children - only when we were on site did we realise that this was not the case.

This isn't a young child friendly site. Shame really.

I am writing in response to the negative comments made by two families regarding the attitude of the owners towards children. We have stayed on the Southland Camping Park site for 3 weeks during August for the last 5 years, and we have found it to be extremely well run, with friendly and helpful staff. The children were very welcome, and there is a safe and well equipped play area. We have found that the majority of parents ensure that their children are well supervised and do not spoil the enjoyment of others. On the very rare occasions when children have caused problems the owners have quite rightly approached the parents to request increased supervision. This would be expected on any well run campsite.
