Good Points

Well laid out pitches

Bad Points

Over zealous enforcement of rules and regulations, and intolerance of children, even in peak summer holidays.

General Comments

The Southland Camping Park on the Isle of White should really make it clear that it is intended for adults only. Children's outdoor toys and games are frowned upon, and kids are routinely told off for cycling faster than walking pace. The threat of confiscation of bicycles awaits regular offenders. The children's play area is of a poor standard, and given that the owners do not allow any kind of play outside the designated area, the kids will have a hard time occupying themselves outdoors.

I raised these concerns with the owner face to face in August 2006, but he just walked away without addressing any of my concerns.

Mr Sunley obviously has very unruly children. I have been visiting Southland Caravan and Camping Park for the last 16 years. I have 3 children aged 9,7, & 16 months. The owners, as are all the staff, there to make sure that everyone on the park has a pleasant holiday. The only time I would imagine that they would walk away from you is if you are being abusive. The current owners have been running the site for over 10 years and we meet many people from 6 to 60 years old year on year. Surely another testament to the site is the number of pitches that are re booked even before leaving for the following year. There is a 5 mile an hour speed limit on the site for everyone's safety, The fact that the staff enforce this for ALL vehicles and Bicycles should not be seen by people as a bad point. As a family we have already booked for next year as the children don't want to go anywhere else!
