I would not rate the Avlida Hotel in Paphos a 4 star. It is more like a 3 star. I was worried when I had read previous reviews, but the hotel is OK, and it is nice and clean. The staff could have been a bit more friendly though.

The food was OK, but there wasn't a lot of choice. The pool area was OK, but there were not enough sunbeds. Also, the sun disappears in the late afternoon! The evening entertainment was non-existent, so we went out every night. Beware the baths in the rooms. Some have been painted over (with gloss), and as a result I had a very nasty fall resulting in severe bruising on my arms, back and bottom, so please insist on a bath mat!

There is a nice reception area. The rooms are basic but clean, and the rooms are cleaned and towels changed daily. There is a bus stop just outside the hotel. A bus to Paphos Harbour runs every 15 minutes up to 11pm at night, and wherever you are going the fare is 80 cents.
