Good Points

Very good handling.
Excellent performance (with a couple of Malossi tweaks, mind you).
Well planted feel on the road thanks to its weight.
Proper sized wheels that absorb pot holes.
Very good value for money and as fast as any.
500cc super scooter...faster now, in fact.
Quite rugged. Didn't fall to pieces when I came off it.

Bad Points

Acceleration lag off the lights, thanks to the gearing working out what it should do. This has mostly been remedied by Malossi variator and clutch springs. Fabulous acceleration now but still a little doughy off the lights for such a powerful c40bhp bike.
Switch gear a bit cheap and nasty and rather confusing to use without looking.
Mirrors rusted almost immediately.
Speedo cable vulnerable to rough handling by other motorcyclists when parked.

General Comments

Why on earth did Piaggio stop making the Piaggio B500? It enjoys motorcycle handling, is good value for money and is a joy to ride. I've already fixed the rather noticeable acceleration lag and I'm sure Piaggio could reconfigure the under seat storage to make it more useful.

One other thing that Piaggio could improve if they were to recommence production would be to lengthen the seat for higher speed cruising and to fit a proper screen
