I bought my Philips Savvy mobile phone about five years ago as a pay-as-you-go phone. It worked exactly as advertised and had only one failure. The failure was because I dropped it into the sea while "rescuing" some girls who had been cut off by the tide at our local beach. Corrosion caused the battery connection to corrode and after a brief call to the Orange help line, decided for myself that all I needed to do was scrape the green corrosion from the contacts with my trusty Swiss Army Knife.
Oh yes... the battery level indicator on the monochrome screen sometimes doesn't register... it is simply blank. I have discovered that by cleaning the spring battery contacts and prising the spring contacts out so that they make a firmer contact full service can be restored.
I had to change the NiCd battery pack after about four years as it refused to hold a charge in spite of my proper application of known NiCd charging routines.
An old machine bit rugged and lovable. It's a pity that this old workhorse will probably be going to the grave. I will always keep my first mobile and use it until it dies.
