General Comments

The Etnies Callicut maybe a nice looking, but it isn't the best skate shoe.
I'll start with the good points of the shoe. First, it looks good. It's simple and clean, and isn't bulky like some other shoes. Next, it's comfortable, the insoles are good at shaping to your foot, and are soft. Finally, it's fairly cheap, around $55, a good price for anyone who needs a shoe in a bind. But there are some drawbacks. First, it tears easy, especially in the toe. The toe is a shell toe, it has only one layer. Normally this kind of toe is kind of thick, and boxed for rigidness, making it stronger, but this shell toe is thin and isn't boxed, so it can tear easy. Second, the grip is really grip, which is good and bad, good because it's grippy, bad because the grippiness makes it wear down faster. In about a month of skating, the grip was bald.
Third and final, it doesn't absorb shock well. The insoles, being thin, don't do much to protect your feet, and the sole, while having EVA, doesn't help out as much as it should. All in all, I don't recommend this shoe for skaters unless you desperately need a skate shoe. Just use this one for casual purposes.
