I have had a terrible time with Cingular. My family has been with them for 10 years and they are now cancelling me and my sister's phones because we have been using towers other than Cingular's. Back in December we got a letter that said that the tower that me and my sister were using at college was not Cingular's, but someone they worked with and I needed to start making less calls. We called Cingular and they "seemed" to work with us. They said they would change my phone so it would say "off network" when I wasn't using a Cingular tower. I was perfectly fine with that. I get back to school and my phone still says Cingular all the time. I thought that was funny so I called Cingular 3 more times to make sure my phone had been adjusted. They assured me it had and as long as my phone said Cingular I was perfectly fine to make as many calls as I like. Now it is July and a letter arrived from Cingular informing me that phone will be cancelled because I was using too many minutes on other towers! What?? So we called Cingular and explained and the person "seemed" understanding and said she would talk to a manager and get back to us next day. More than a week goes by and nothing. So we call again and again and again and then we finally get a hold of a manager and he doesn't care at all. He says there are a lot of people being cancelled because of this and too darn bad for us. Lovely. Also ever since December on our phone bill calling my dad at work( he works nearby) calling home from 5 minutes away, and calling friends who live nearby are now suddenly "Off Network" so much for getting better coverage when AT&T was bought by Cingular. I just can't believe how many times we were lied to and how many times we had to call them and then finally how a manager just didn't care. I don't know how other cell phone services customer support is like but I think it would have to be better than this. I am so disappointed with Cingular.
