Good Points

Cheaper than FedEx.


Bad Points

More Expensive than mail for almost the same service.
Can't get package delivered.
Can't get destination changed in a timely manner.
Can't pick up package from UPS station, or even if they do have it the line is usually over 1 hour in length.


General Comments

8/3/06 - I live in a metropolitan area out side of Boston. Delivery for everyone is an issue because the package can not be left safely at you door step. So UPS hangs on the the package, regardless of any request to "Release" it at the location. I've had several packages handled by UPS and the results are always the same.
It is impossible to have it forwarded to my work, because it is in the next town over and out of the ground crews jurisdiction. I can put a hold on the package, but this means I have to wait 48hrs to guarantee it will be a the location. If I show up any earlier they may not be able to locate it. Even after the 48 hr wait, I then show up at the location to find a line that is over 1 hr long. I've waited in this line 6 times now, that's six hours or more, of my time wasted because they can't get their business model to work in a metropolitan area.
On top of this they are open very few hours of the day and they are inconveniently located away. They are not near any public transportation and in a neighbor hood the mob won't visit. Seriously, you wouldn't be the first to die down there.
The best part is if you call their customer service department they totally give you the brush off. If you email them they are a little nicer, but still no better at getting results. They need to adapt and get a better business model for metropolitan areas. If they need suggestions, I've got lots. Feel free to contact me.
